It seems to me that growing up is a bit like waking up, bit by bit. You go along, dreaming, thinking you´re awake and that you understand how things are, and you´re seeing things clearly. And then something happens, or you read something, or someone says something to you, and you blink, and suddenly the world's more in focus than it was before, and you realise you haven't been properly awake at all.
